The 2025 Sylvester Doyle Puppy Championship, along with support events of the Ray Boundy memorial and Gippsland Cup were concluded on Sunday 20th July.
A balmy day of 14 degrees was the order of the day but hey it is like footy a winter sport, so there was plenty of coats and beanies on display early but the sunshine was a pleasant surprise. Of course, the greyhounds were well catered for.
Several trainers had a few dogs making the finals and many of these greyhounds coursed unsuccessfully last week and you guessed it, they improved out of sight this week. Punters watch for them hit the tracks in the next 10 days.
In our feature puppy feature Event 1 the Sylvester Doyle Puppy Championship where we saw Levi Design and Vista Vampire exit slips and go head-to-head but by the half way mark Lachlan Scott’s Levi Design had moved ahead defeating Murray Collyer’s Vista Vampire. Levi Design’s win was a sound win over very good company. These two greyhounds coursed exceptionally well over the two weeks and they are a credit to their trainers.
In Event 2 the Ray Boundy Memorial we saw some more seasoned campaigners hitting their straps as we head towards the final three coursed meetings of the season with Andrew Paraskevas’ Walk With Pride defeating Emma Scott’s Trefusis.
The maiden Event 3 for those maidens that have done their best but failed to break their coursing maiden status we had the Gippsland Cup and here we saw the Nolan family take the both the winners and the runners up purses when Both Sides for Justin defeating Juju Blue for Michelle.
